The Carter County Amateur Radio Association (CCARA) is composed of FCC licensed Amateur Radio Operators who have voluntarily registered their capabilities and equipment for service communication duty. The CCARA is a nonprofit organization.
The primary responsibility of CCARA is to furnish communication in the events of a natural disaster or emergency, or when regular communication fails or is inadequate.
They also furnish communication for community events to help make the event safer, such as the Carter County Pedalfest bike run, the Roan Groan bike race and Relay for Life events.
